I’m on the plane in Beijing waiting to take off to Shanghai. They put us on a 747! For only 669 miles? Must be a really profitable route and time!
Archive for November, 2006Beijing is a bit crazy these few days - leaders from some 48 African countries are coming (today actually) for the “Beijing Summit”. Not “China-African Summit” or “Sino-African Summit”. It is called “Beijing Summit”. And you’ve got to love the poor grammar. Welcome to THE Beijing Summit, idiot! This is, unfortunately, a common mistake here. “Welcome To Take Beijing Taxi” is what you’ll hear every time you get into a cab. Any way, the city is littered with ridiculous billboards like what you see in this photo. I took this with my cameraphone as I was stopped at a traffic light on the way to work last week. This billboard is very PC, i’d say - a black hand shaking a white (or yellow) hand. Love it! |
