Beijing is a bit crazy these few days – leaders from some 48 African countries are coming (today actually) for the “Beijing Summit”. Not “China-African Summit” or “Sino-African Summit”. It is called “Beijing Summit”.
And you’ve got to love the poor grammar. Welcome to THE Beijing Summit, idiot! This is, unfortunately, a common mistake here. “Welcome To Take Beijing Taxi” is what you’ll hear every time you get into a cab.
Any way, the city is littered with ridiculous billboards like what you see in this photo. I took this with my cameraphone as I was stopped at a traffic light on the way to work last week.
This billboard is very PC, i’d say – a black hand shaking a white (or yellow) hand. Love it!

Well I do hope that this new Afro-Sino ahem parnership will be of immense benefit for Africa, which has always gotten a raw ahem TRADE deal with the West. It does appear that China is willing to pay FAIR prices for these resources.
Now if we can get rid of the corrupt politicians.
