Oliver peaking inside his Christmas Gift Oliver peaking inside his Christmas Gift - No one watching... Oliver peaking inside his Christmas Gift - Caught!
Peaking inside… No one around… Caught on camera!

My colleague, Oliver (Oliver’s Site) has a very thoughtful sister who sent him his Christmas Gift in the mail. It arrived today, and I caught him peaking. I hope she doesn’t see this site, Oliver…

I came across this photo on the net. Is it me? Short answer, no. But I spent the better half of an hour trying to figure out.

It started with going to the blog plaxoed! [Mark Jen’s life @ Plaxo] after seeing it on my colleague’s computer monitor. (A side note, he, Oliver is a real Plaxo fan, and actually converted me some time ago to use Plaxo) I was reading some of Mark’s entries, and after seeing his photo on his site, I thought to myself “man, I know this guy…”. My colleague, Oliver, told me he was famous many months ago for being fired from Google due to his Blogging habits. I don’t remember that. So I did some Google and A9 searching.

Turns out, he’s got a Wikipedia entry. Short, but to the point.

A9’s image results (I guess these are Google Image results), showed me this image. It looks like me! (It’s not). But then I got to thinking… Could it be me? It might be. Silver watch band. Big arms. But, I don’t pull up my long sleeves like this guy does in the photo. Well, I went to investigate more, to www.decheung.com, as that is where this photo is resident.

I found the entry where this image is linked, Remix of my Scoble and Mark Jen photos, which turns out to be a photoshop’d image by a guy in India named Manu Sharma. The white guy in the photo is a guy named Scoble.

So, not me.

But I know Mark from somewhere. I think it was University

Longmenjian Gully

Originally uploaded by chrisdrum.

Photo Set Here - Two weekends ago, we went on our annual company outing. This time, to Mentougou County, about 3 hours north west of downtown Beijing. My photos only consist of the Longmenjian Gully and campfire portions as I missed Sunday’s activities due to having a noon flight to the states. But, I did get out of more hiking in hot weather. Enjoy the pics. You can also check out my colleague’s photos at Salted Lolly’s Flickr Stream.

I have finally uploaded the pictures Melanie and I took when we drove outside of the city 2 weekends ago. Check them out here: [Photo Set of Drive to Shidu and Yesanpo](http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisdrum/sets/744915/).

Have you heard of [Last.fm](http://www.last.fm)? Check it out! It is pretty neat. Based on what music you like, it creates Internet radio stations for you. No commercials, no talking. Just music., And it’s legal. Well, they claim its legal.

Renting a Car in China

Originally uploaded by chrisdrum.

As my parents are coming this weekend (clean the house! dispose of the
“evidence”! disconnect the phone!), I decided it would be a nice gesture
for me to pick them up at the airport on Sunday morning. But, I needed
a car, as my motorbike certainly wouldn’t be able to fit three people
plus tons of luggage. Lucky for me, our office manager, Charles, has a
VIP card at an auto rental company new Guo Mao that happens to
specialize in SUVs. See the picture to the right, I have one of these
babies.

On another note, on the way to the rental lot, we stopped at the
Chaoyang District traffic police station to handle unpaid traffic
violations of someone else at the company (with great power). I must
say, I am BIG TIME impressed with Beijing’s traffic system - in terms of
fining those when people break the regulations. Beijing has a crap load
of camera around the city. I guess they have people looking at these
cameras 24 hours a day, because of the three unpaid violations, they had
video to prove it!!! Turning on a red turn light. Yep, we saw that in
color. Speeding? Yep, that one too! So, I am going to need to be
careful with the rental as it has blue (local peoples) plates - I am
fare game! [Note, with my motorcycle, I have black (foreigner) plates.
Never had an issue, except for that 5 RMB parking ticket I got two years
ago. And lets just say, I am no angle when it comes to following
traffic rules.]

I have uploaded the photos from my weekend trip to Inner Mongolia to flickr. My friends and I took a long weekend to to go to Inner Mongolia in Northern China. We saw the Genghis Khan’s Mausoleum, the Resonant Sand Gorge, and the Wudang Monastery.

See the pictures on flickr by clicking on the photo to the right or go to my “photos” section of this site. There you can start from the first photo and read about the trip as you flip through the photos.

Just so we are all clear - Inner Mongolia is China. Outer Mongolia is Mongolia.
